I specialize in counseling addiction clients who are primarily triggered by their struggles with anger management, men's issues, and childhood trauma. I have worked at all levels of care as an addiction counselor, from inpatient detox facilities, to intensive outpatient programs, and homless encampment outreach teams. I have a long personal and professional history with addiction as well as mental illness which has been paramount in allowing me to empathize with my clients over the course of my career. It is my opinion that in this particular arena, information is often the best place to start. As such, I like to conduct my counseling with the goal of educating my clients as often as I empathize with them. I believe that it is best to be prepared with knowledge before we attempt to understand and eventually confront whatever it is that burdens us. If that sounds like the sort of counseling you are looking for, reach out and let's set something up!
I specialize in addiction counseling and have experience working at every level of care, including top-level dual diagnosis inpatient facilities, partial hospitalization programs, and homeless outreach organizations. I have a strength in rebuilding self-worth and motivating individuals to take action towards healthy change. I am very familiar with addiction and mental illness in both my professional and personal life. This has given me keen insight into both the fine details and the big picture themes of struggling in these areas. I also have a passion for working with addiction clients who are acutely triggered by the many issues that stem from a history of domestic violence, sexual assault, and negative self-image. I have a warm and empathetic approach that I like to intersperse with key educational information, as knowledge and understanding are critical tools for change. I believe that each of us has the capacity to become our ideal self, and it would be my privilege to counsel you on your way. If you are finding yourself interested in this approach, let me know and we can set something up!
